Effect: Three envelopes are displayed, each one marked with a value (ex. aces, twos and threes). The spectator is told that each envelope contains four cards, one of each suit, and that one of the cards is different than the rest. The spectator is asked to choose one of the envelopes. Suppose that the twos are selected, he is then requested to name one of the four suits (ex. Hearts).
 
After the suit has been named, the magician removes the four cards and shows that there are indeed only four cards, one of each suit. The magician turns the cards face down and shows that three cards have blue backs while one card has a red back. When the red-backed card is turned face up it is seen to be the Heart.
 
The spectator then chooses between the two remaining envelopes. And once again the named suit is the only odd-backed card.
