EFFECT

A packet of cards and an envelope are shown. You explain that you are going to place one of the cards into the envelope and it is important that it has a blue back. All cards are again fanned and shown to have blue backs. The spectator names a card and you start to put it into the envelope but hesitate — "We can't use this card — the back is marked." You turn over the card and show that the corners and middle are marked with the initials of the card.
 
Another card is selected by the spectator, and, again you hesitate — "We can't use this card — it doesn't have a back." You turn over this card and show a blank back.
 
A third card is selected by the spectator, and, again you hesitate — "We can't use this card — it has a red back." You show this to be true.
 
At this point, you say, "Let's use the blank face card as it is obvious that it does have a blue back." The blank face card is shown on both sides and placed face down into the envelope.
 
"We will magically print the ten of hearts on the blank card." The envelope is turned and printed on it is — TEN OF SPADES.
 
"We'll have to compromise." The spectator removes the card and it is a BLACK ten of hearts.
 
CONDITION NOTES:  Includes Haines House of Cards Fox Lake blue backs. Cards are in very good condition with only minor age-related wear.
