We’d like to thank Bud Dietrich for permitting us to release this phenomenal effect, and Bob Elliott for supplying the key patter lines which so cleverly distract, convince, and entertain spectators that even top magicians watching become completely bewildered as to how the effect is achieved.
 
And in learning the secret of this incredible new deck, you will be delighted to learn that it does not involve roughing fluid, magnetic shims, magicians wax, thread, or any other of the usual devices so familiar to tricksters and even to many in their audience.
 
EFFECT:
You fan what you say is “a magicians deck of cards” and not the long familiar “gamblers deck” with markings on the back of each card. Allowing the spectators to examine minutely the absence of markings on the backs of the cards you are fanning, you turn the deck face up and also let them look equally carefully at the faces. You then ask if a spectator would consider it a miracle if you could name any card in the fanned deck that he just looks at, without commenting, or just thinks of, without speaking. After he agrees, you hesitate, ponder, and then give a person’s name as the “name” of his card. Then as he tells you the actual card he chose, you withdraw it from the deck and set it in front of him on the table. Inviting him to turn it over, he sees the “name” you gave written on his card, as you demonstrate that other cards in the deck are unmarked on their faces and their backs.
