Three large silver coins (U.S. half dollars) are placed on the table. Each coin is covered with a single playing card. Three copper coins, similar in size to the silver ones, are introduced. One of these is taken by the magician and vanished.

One of the cards is lifted. Beneath, is discovered the copper coin just vanished. Of the silver there is no trace. The effect is repeated twice more, using the other two coppers and the remaining tabled cards and coins.
 
The routine reaches its climax, when the three copper coins are each covered with a single card. Without any false moves, the copper coins instantly turn back into silver in a most startling manner. This final transformation is very pretty. All through the routine the coins are shown on both sides to prove you are working with genuine coins.
