Borrow a ring from a spectator or use the one supplied with the trick. The ring is placed inside a clear crystal box, which is then enclosed within a larger transparent container.
 
A sword is slowly pushed straight through the container and directly through the center of the crystal box. The audience can clearly see that the blade appears to pass right through the borrowed ring.
 
When the container is removed, the sword is seen penetrating the box and ring in an impossible manner. Everything can be examined, yet the secret remains completely baffling.
