“Take off the solid shoe. It can be done in 2 seconds.”
Vintage Adams mechanical puzzle featuring a green metal horseshoe mounted to its original display card. The challenge is to remove the solid horseshoe from the apparatus, something that looks much easier than it actually is.
This style of horseshoe puzzle has a very long history. Horseshoe puzzles were being published in magic and puzzle books by the mid-1800s, including The Magician’s Own Book from 1857.
This example is especially nice as a vintage magic/novelty collectible because the original Adams display card remains intact.
CONDITION NOTES: Overall in good vintage condition. The metal horseshoe has considerable paint loss, scratches and surface wear from age and use. The display card has discoloration, edge wear, scuffs and general age-related wear.
Please Note: Due to their age, some vintage novelty pieces may no longer perform exactly as originally intended and should be considered collectible display pieces.
