This is a striking demonstration of mind reading. A mentalist asks a spectator to silently think of a number shown on a die. With his back turned, the performer has the spectator place the die, with the chosen number facing upward, into a square opening slightly larger than the die itself, located in the center of a finely crafted wooden card case. The case contains playing cards numbered ace through six of a single suit. The spectator then removes the die and holds it tightly in a closed fist.

The mentalist turns to face the spectator and removes the cards from the case, openly showing that they run from ace through six. After a brief moment of concentration, the performer selects one card and turns it face up. Remarkably, it proves to be the exact number merely thought of by the spectator.

There is no force of any kind, and the effect may be repeated immediately for the same audience, as it resets instantly. The method is clever and deceptive, based on an idea by John Cornelius. This is a very scarce item and exceptionally difficult to find.
