The magician asks the spectator to clear his mind of all thoughts, making it a blank slate. You then request that the spectator bring back only one thought into his mind — the name of one playing card. The spectator has an absolutely free choice. Let’s say they select the seven of hearts. You ask the spectator to name the card he has thought of. You then advise him that you will not only remove his seven of hearts, but the other three sevens as well.

You place the deck face down on the table and ask the spectator to take the four-of-a-kind you have removed and point to the card they feel is theirs, without looking at the faces. You immediately show that the other three cards are blank. You then turn over the top two cards of the deck, showing that the “jokers” are blank. Next, you turn over the following four cards, showing the “aces” to be blank. You then toss out the remaining cards face up in a flurry of all blank cards — a virtual blizzard of white face cards.

Only one card remains face down. The spectator is asked to turn it over, revealing the one card they freely named — the seven of hearts in our example. The remaining cards lie scattered across the table, creating a blizzard of white blank-faced cards, all of which may be freely examined. Trust me — your audience will be devastated.
