Two brass bowls are shown empty and tapped together to prove their genuineness. Rice is poured into one bowl and leveled off, then covered by the second empty bowl. When the pair is separated, the rice has magically doubled in quantity. The second bowl is again shown empty, inverted, and placed over the first — and after a brief moment of magic, the rice completely vanishes, replaced by water that overflows as it’s poured back and forth between the bowls.

Crafted by P&L in the early 1920s, this elegant version of the classic Rice Bowls was a major advancement over earlier designs. Instead of relying on the old celluloid disc method, P&L achieved the effect entirely through precision craftsmanship—these bowls function more like Lota Bowls, with nothing added or removed. The result is a seamless, baffling transformation that remains one of the finest renditions ever made.

CONDITION NOTES:  The bowls show wear but remain in very good condition overall. There are a few dings, spots, and scratches, though they still present nicely from a short distance. A careful polish could reduce much of the spotting and make the scratches less noticeable. Instructions are included (reproduction copies, small print but usable). This listing is for the bowls only—no discs included. Each bowl measures approximately 3½ inches high.
