ABOUT FACE
Instructions by: Jack Young
Routine by: Harry Lorayne
EFFECT:
You show your spectator(s) a face-to-face "two card sandwich," with only the backs of the two cards showing. You then slide the top card back towards you, revealing the face of the face-up bottom card, for the spectator to note. Turning the pair of cards over end-to-end, you now repeat the slide back of the top card, revealing the face of the other card.
Now comes a series of stunning surprises. Repeating the exact same moves with the two cards, you show two entirely new faces of cards, as you explain that you want to check the values of the cards carefully. (Some performers work this in as part of a gambling routine, saying they are checking their "poker pair" but you can play it in any way you like.)
Then, with spectator suspicions high, and strong requests to "Let us see the cards," you next reveal in the same manner two more entirely different faces of the cards—for a total of six different cards!—and then immediately toss the two cards to the spectators for the most careful examination, or for souvenir giveaways, if you are so inclined.
